Crowns & Bridges

Crowns & Bridges in Nashville, TN

We know that everyone wants to maintain healthy smiles, but we also know that oral problems are still all too commonplace. Even with the best intentions and care, you may still find yourself dealing with a damaged tooth or tooth loss. If so, Dr. Holliday and the team at Brentwood Dental Arts are here to help. We offer a wide range of cosmetic and restorative services including crowns and bridges.

What is a crown?

Sometimes referred to as a “cap”, a crown is a tooth-shaped restoration that goes over the top of a tooth to restore function and improve aesthetics. Most crowns are made from porcelain or ceramic, which are matched to the rest of your smile to give you natural-looking results.

What are dental bridges?

If you are missing one or more teeth, our dentist Dr. Holliday might recommend replacing missing teeth with a dental bridge. Just as the name suggests, this oral device bridges the gap that is left by a missing tooth. Dental bridges are either fixed in place with crowns or are held in place with attachments. If you get a fixed dental bridge, dental crowns will sit on both sides of the restoration to hold the false tooth in place.

When might I need a crown?

Several factors could lead our dental team to recommend getting a dental crown:

  • To protect a weakened tooth
  • To cover severely misshapen or discolored teeth
  • To restore a fractured or broken tooth
  • To stabilize a dental bridge
  • To cover a dental implant
  • To protect a tooth after root canal therapy

What should I expect when getting my dental crown and bridge?

Before these prosthetics are placed, your teeth need to be prepared so the crowns will fit over them. After we reduce the size of your tooth or teeth, we will then take impressions of your smile.

Then a dental lab will fabricate your device based on these impressions. In the meantime, we will fit you with a temporary crown or bridge until you can get your permanent one. Once your crown or bridge is ready, we will remove the temporary one and replace it with the new one.

Dr. Holliday and the staff here at Brentwood Dental Arts pride themselves on providing beautiful, durable, and lifelike dental restorations that improve the health of a tooth while also enhancing your appearance.
